The 25th Annual, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Community Celebration in Webster Groves and Rock Hill
Sunday, January 19, 2020 – March – Dinner – Program
The celebration of the Life and Legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., includes a one-mile march, followed by a community dinner and an inspirational program.
MARCH – 4:30 pm – from the Webster Groves City Hall to Steger/Givens School
Marchers will assemble at 4:30 pm on the steps of Webster Groves City Hall, 4 E. Lockwood Ave., and walk to the Steger/Givens building, 701 N. Rock Hill Road. Marchers are invited to first meet at 4:00 pm at the Steger/Givens School, 701 N. Rock Hill Rd. for a bus ride to Webster Groves City Hall, as participants will then from from city hall back to the school.
Marchers are reminded that they should dress for a mile-long walk in whatever weather the day brings.
From Webster Groves City Hall, participants will walk up Elm Avenue to Euclid, Euclid to Rock Hill and Rock Hill to Steger/Givens School.
Dinner – 5:00 pm in the Steger/Givens Cafeteria
A community dinner reception will be provided at no charge, beginning at 5 pm., in the cafeteria at Steger/Givens School. A light meal including finger sandwiches, soup and other snacks will be provided at no charge my local vendors and volunteers.
Program – 5:45 pm – in the Steger/Givens Auditorium
An inspirational program is offered, approximately 75 minutes in length, and features readings, music, and other performing arts by students from the Webster Groves School District and Webster University.
Additionally, the annual Ras Jones Awards will be presented, and a new video honoring the 150th anniversary of the Webster Groves School District will be shown.
